The Thermo Fisher Scientific Amplitude Solution version 2.0 is an automated molecular diagnostic testing system that provides an improved streamlined workflow, uses minimal resources, and offers high throughput options, to maximize lab efficiency. Based on customer feedback, we’ve innovated to provide turnkey technology all in a total-package solution geared to help your lab be prepared for anything.
Amplitude Solution version 2.0 offers all the features you expect plus:
- Flexible sample batching—provides faster turnaround time and helps decrease cost of tests; enables running 1 to 4 extraction plates (94 to 376 samples) per run while minimizing reagent waste
- Additional sample types—enables use of saliva for less invasive sample collection using Spectrum Solutions SDNA-1000 saliva collection device
- Enhanced features—supports high test success rates through automation, which helps reduce workflow errors and sample loss rate
S-gene advantage for potential early identification of the Omicron variant (B.1.1.529)
This test uses a multi-target design that includes an S-gene target. If a sample with the 69-70del S-gene mutation is tested using the TaqPath COVID-19 High-Throughput Combo Kit, it will result in an S-gene dropout. The European CDC and U.S. FDA have noted this pattern of detection may help with early identification of the Omicron variant (B.1.1.529).
At the core of the Amplitude Solution is the Applied Biosystems TaqPath COVID-19 High-Throughput Combo Kit.

Module 1
- Each sample tube is uncapped, inactivated, and barcoded
- The tube rack is placed into the Tecan Fluent™ 1080 liquid handler where a negative control, beads/binding solution, proteinase K, and MS2 are added
- Four 96-deep-well plates are prepared for transfer to the next step
Module 2
- Extracts and purifies RNA from samples
- Combines 4 x 96-well RNA plates into 384-well reaction plates
- Performs real-time PCR workflow
- Separates liquid and plastic waste for easy disposal
Sample analysis
- End-to-end sample tracking and data management within the Amplitude Solution
- The qPCR run data is automatically analyzed and the COVID-19 test results are generated
- COVID-19 test results are available to be submitted to your laboratory's LIMS
