He was unique in being a scientist and a clincially oriented laboratory leader. He knew how to encourage his team to invent. Working with him and writing with him, the textbook of autoantibodies, was a special experience for me. His loss is a loss for the clincial laboratory world, but also for the medical community all over the world.

Dr James B.Peter M.D.,Ph.D.,was instrumental to introduce sophisticated esoteric laboratory testing in India. I had the privilege of working with him in Santa Monica when I was selected for a six months training programme in Specialty Laboratories Inc.,in the year 1995. He was an unassuming leader in laboratory medicine and an innovator to transfer advanced technology from the west to the east. India evovled as a major player in laboratory medicine after his entry in India.

I write here my heart felt condolences to his bereaved near and dear ones.
